Confusion is reigning across the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne this morning.

Earlier today, the BBC reported that following a crisis summit, it was decided the race would be postponed or cancelled following a positive CoVid-19 test of a McLaren member of staff.

McLaren has withdrawn from the race.

However, it’s now being reported that fan gates have opened and staff are being told that everything is going ahead as planned.

There has been no announcement from F1 regarding the situation but media close to the organisation, including Chris Medland have said ‘Friday at present going ahead as normal. Despite a confirmed case of coronavirus for a team member and a full paddock yesterday, and sources saying race will be off, FIA has “had no instructions to tell you otherwise” when asked if media should attend the track today’
