170 residents have evacuated a city apartment building in Therry Street near the Queen Victoria Market at 6am this morning.

According to The Age, “a 50mm hot water service pipe burst on the 19th floor on the building, flooding four floors.”

Firefighters were quickly on the scene and shut off the water, thankfully no-one was injured and the building’s management is now in charge of the clean-up.
