A harvest full moon on Friday the 13th, the first time it’s happened in…13 years!

The rare type of full moon gets its name because it reaches peak brightness close to the Spring equinox and is believed to mark the start of a lucky period.

But even if you’re not a superstitious type you can appreciate the spectacular Harvest Moon as it lights up the Aussie sky at 100 per cent illumination.

The best time to view it will be at nightfall and the next one won’t be till August 13, 2049.
