A man has been flown to the hospital overnight with life-threatening injuries when the car he was riding in struck a tree on the Morning Peninsula at around 8pm.

The passenger, aged in his 20s, suffered serious injuries to his upper body. He was flown by helicopter to The Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the driver, a woman aged in her 20s suffered minor injuries and was taken to Frankston Hospital.

The Major Collison Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances of the crash, which occurred on Hendersons Road neat Tuerong Place.
