A man has died in one of two accidents on the Peninsula Link on Friday morning, causing the freeway in both directions to be closed.
Police have said a van collided with a car, which then crashed into a truck near Robinsons Road at around 6.40am. The driver of the van died at the scene.
The van is said to have been “significantly damaged” and city-bound lanes have been closed.
20 minutes beforehand, an eight-car pileup, which included a truck happened near Cranbourne Road on the outbound lane. There were no serious injuries however it is expected it will take a long time to clean up the damage.
One person was taken to the Alfred Hospital and one person was taken to the Frankston Hospital.
Peninsula Link is closed between Golf Links Road and Cranbourne Road, and all traffic is being diverted onto the Frankston Freeway and Frankston-Flinders Road.
Peninsula Link remains closed in both directions after two earlier serious collisions. Diversions have been set up between Frankston-Flinders Road and Cranbourne Road. Use the Moorooduc Highway or Western Port Highway instead. Allow extra time. #victraffic pic.twitter.com/8X7fb2Vyyp
