Climate change protestors will bring the CBD to a standstill later today.

50 to 100,000 people are expected to meet at Treasury Gardens at 2pm, before marching along Collins, Exhibition and Flinders Streets.

One of the Year 11 student organisers Emma Demarchi attended that first protest: “I was totally inspired and in awe of what I witnessed that I thought I’d have to start helping them organise,” she said.

“I’ve been a lead school striker ever since.”

“We’ve been told we don’t know what we’re talking about but I think we have fought back and risen up really graciously to show those people that we do understand what’s going on and we are here to fight for our future.”

“The amount of corporations, businesses and adults who have jumped on board to support us is incredible,” she said.
