The company that runs Melbourne’s trams, trains and buses is looking at ways to undertake more cleaning of stations and public transport vehicles following the outbreak of CoVid-19.

Melburnians have been questioning the body over the cleaning, especially around Myki touchpads, as thousands use each vehicle each day.

It’s believed that at present, each vehicle is cleaned at the end of each day but in a statement, a Department of Transport spokespersons said ‘The Department of Transport is working with operators to explore ways to undertake additional cleaning measures on stations or public transport vehicle, over and above the routine cleaning practices.

According to DHHS, transmission of COVID-19 on public transport is highly unlikely as it requires at least 15 minutes face-to-face contact or more than 2 hours in the same room.’
