Jetstar has said that Vietnam is the new Bali or Thailand for budget travellers as is launches direct flights to the South-East Asian country for just $159.

The airline will be the only low-cost carrier to fly directly from Australia to Ho Chi Minh City in May.

Tickets will go on sale today, with a 12-hour sale, offering one-way flights for $159.

The airline will operate its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner direct four times a week from Sydney and three times a week from Melbourne.

“Vietnam is well known for its rich culture, vibrant cities, beaches and cuisine, and travellers can take advantage of the wide range of experiences the region has to offer.

“We expect our low fares, and direct flights will generate even more demand for holidays to Vietnam.”
