Nine-month-old twins, Kalani and Jarani are not only gorgeous but have been labeled as ‘miracle babies’!
The pair were born in April 2016, and have two different skin colours.
According to That’s Life, Kalani inherited her mother Whitney Meyer’s lighter Caucasian complexion, while Jarani resembles her darker-skinned dad, African-American Tomas Dean.
“We’re chromosome twins,” 25-year-old Meyer recently wrote on Facebook, alongside a photo of her adorable girls. “Kalani is light with blue eyes and Jarani is the darker one with brown eyes.”
Kalani and Jarani are fraternal twins, meaning that they developed from two different eggs that were fertilized by their own sperm cell. But the chance of a biracial couple having twins that are born with two different skin colours is approximately 1 in 500.
“I asked the doctor why Kalani’s skin was so white! I couldn’t figure out why she looked so different to her sister.”
The mother has told US Weekly, her surprise at the miracle birth.
“No one believes they’re twins,” she continued. “When we go out in public, people will start looking at them because I dress them identical and I can tell they are confused.”
“They are my miracle babies.”
