Kmart has made changes to all its stores across the country after two staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

The chain has reduced its opening hours nationally, with the reasoning being so “our teams more time to clean stores and support online order fulfilment”.

“We want to play our part, during these uncertain times, to protect our team members and customers as best we can,” the company said in a statement.

The new hours will be:

Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania

  • Monday to Friday: 8am to 8pm
  • Saturday to Sunday: 8am to 5pm

Western Australia and South Australia

Existing 24-hour stores will also now trade 8am to 10pm.

While the stores will close early, the company says its website will operate as usual.

“We want to provide easy access to the products you need, at the time you need them most,” it said.
