An inner-city Sydney restaurant has been slammed online over a ‘deconstructed’ Anzac biscuit that it had planned to include on its menu.

Moon Restaurant and Bar in Darlinghurst posted the photo of the dessert to its Instagram account and was swiftly met with derision.

One user simply said ‘nope’.

Upon learning the Anzac dessert was in breach of the code regarding the use of the word ‘Anzac’ the restaurant deleted the image.

However, before the post was removed it was picked up and shared to Twitter with the caption: “This, according to an inner city Sydney restaurant, is apparently a ‘deconstructed Anzac biscuit’. No it’s not. It’s peak Sydney wankery.”

Moon Restaurant and Bar’s co-owner Jackie Park said “When we created it we didn’t know you can’t use the Anzac word.’’
