That warm spring air is definitely coming in, but that doesn’t mean you need to abandon the gravy boat on the best part of winter: Sunday Roast.
From the best Yorkshire puddings to succulent carvaries, we’ve narrowed the best places serving Sydney-siders some killer roast dinners.
1. The Bucket List, Bondi
An all-day roast (until sold out), it’s all about enjoying a seasonal menu by the seaside.
2. The Oaks, Neutral Bay
Sit among the (many!) twinkling fairy lights in their epic outdoor dining area, and enjoy a home-made style roast with all the trimmings.
3. Exchange Hotel, Balmain
The famous hotel serves up a bargain meal ($20) with incredible city views. Hot tip: Get in a little before lunch to ensure you get a good table.
Very rare that I share my food, however this was massive. A boys catch up to watch the footy and a great pub feed. Featuring the slow cooked flank with chimichurri, kipfler potatoes and greens. 4. The Duck Inn, Chippendale
Just like at home, you get to pick and choose what goes on your plate — from spice-crusted pork to dutch carrots, it’s quite the fancy roast dinner. A modern twist on an ol’ favourite.
5. Four in Hand, Paddington
This place pulls a pretty big crowd, so get in early (no bookings here). It’s not so surprising though, their roast is pretty great thanks to celeb chef, Colin Fassnidge.
6. Pilu at Freshwater, Freshwater
Not the cheapest roast on the block, but if you’re good for a splurge this is worth the extra coin (suckling pig is insane). Definitely book… on payday.
