The much-anticipated trailer for Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s novel ‘Little Women’ has been released, with Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep at the helm.

The story follows the lives of four sisters, starting in their adolescence in the midst of the Civil War through to adulthood.

For those unfamiliar with Greta Gerwig, you may remember her as the breakout writer and director of the award-winning 2017 coming-of-age film, Lady Bird.

The 2019 redux sees Saoirse Ronan as Jo, and Lady Bird co-star Timothée Chalamet as Laurie. Emma Watson (Harry Potter) plays eldest sister Meg, Florence Pugh (from the 2019 horror flick, Midsommar) is the dramatic youngest daughter Amy, and Australia’s very own Eliza Scanlen is timid Beth. Big Little Lies’ Laura Dern rounds out the cast as the March family matriarch Marmie, with Meryl Streep as Aunt March.

Little Women is set to be released on December 26.
