When Dana Olsen’s partner of 15 years told her that he no longer wanted to get married just a month before their wedding, she was understandably devastated.
Not only had she lost the love of her life, but she was so excited to start a future with him, raising children and growing old together.
Talking to XOJane, Olsen said the wedding plans had left both sides of the family broke.
“My family had paid for what was supposed to be a beautiful, fun, 250-person wedding. We were out tens of thousands of nonrefundable dollars”.
However, incredibly selflessly, Olsen decided not to let the wedding go to waste.
She got in touch with Mary’s Place in Seattle, a shelter for homeless women, children and families in emergency situations and offered them a free party, what would’ve been Olsen’s reception.
