The rumours were true and we are finally hearing from the starlet herself!

Pop/Fashion/Entrepreneurial superstar Rihanna has revealed that she did, in fact, turn down an offer to perform at the 2019 NFL Super Bowl halftime show this year.

The reason? Simple. She is big supporter of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick and his decision to protest against police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem at games.

San Francisco 49ers, Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid kneel on the sideline.

In her recent cover story in Vogue, Rihanna confirmed that she was approached to perform, saying,  “Absolutely!”

Rihanna then went on to say, “I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler.”

“There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way,” she continued.

It appears Rihanna isn’t alone with artists such as Cardi B reportedly turning down the same gig for the same reason.
