A polar blast is freezing the state today.
Air from the Southern Ocean is blowing into the state with weather experts predicting it could be the coldest say of the year for Melbourne.
In Melbourne, the mercury hit 5C this morning and the entire state of Victoria has been issued with a frost warning.
“We’ve got three prongs of polar air moving over the southeast this week,” Sky News Weather chief meteorologist Tom Saunders tole News.
“The third one will be sitting over the country this weekend, which means below average temperatures persisting at least until Sunday.”
Melbourne will hit a high of 11C with rain and possible hail, while it’ll get down to -3 in parts of the Mallee, Wimmera, South Gippsland and East Gippsland districts.
