A dating app purely for people who went to private schools has launched in Australia.

Toffee says it’s the “world’s first dating app for people who were privately educated.”

“We set it up because we know people from similar backgrounds are more likely to stick together,” it says on it’s website.

“Toffee connects the right people to help them find their match with our sophisticated matching algorithm taking care of all your dating homework.”

Speaking to Sydney Morning Herald, the app’s founder Lydia David said the niche app was perfect for the 34 per cent of Aussies who’ve been privately educated.

“We felt that Australia would be the best place for us to roll out to first though as we were inundated with requests for us to launch there,” she said.

There’s a whole list of private schools on the app but users can add their own if it doesn’t appear on the ‘list’.

The team will then verify that it is indeed a private or independent school.
