When you watch this video do you notice anything odd?
Plenty of others have and they’re not happy.
The University of Alabama’s Alpha Phi chapter is under fire for its new recruitment video which has been called “worse for women than Donald Trump.”
Featuring all white, young, beautiful girls, the video has become the target of internet vitriol.
On AL.com, A.L. Bailey has led the charge calling the promotional footage a “parade of white girls and blonde hair dye” (plus a lot more!).
“It’s all so racially and aesthetically homogeneous and forced, so hyper-feminine, so reductive and objectifying, so Stepford Wives: College Edition. It’s all so … unempowering,” Bailey writes.
“During filming, did any of them stop to think about what they’d be selling? Did they think they were selling a respectable set of sorority chapter ideals? Did they think they were selling the kind of sisterhood that looks out for all women?“
While some have called it harmless fun, the sorority has since removed the video and it’s social accounts.
Do you think it’s missed the mark?
