Saudi Arabia has become the first country in the world to ban the game Pokemon Go.

The Islamic Kingdom made the religious ruling, as changes in characters such as Pikachu supposedly promote a belief in evolution.

The General Secretariat of the Council of Religious Scholars said it had revived the 2001 ruling against the card game of Pokemon because it contradicts the Islamic belief that evolution is a dangerous myth.

It is argued that the evolution of creatures in the game, who are given specific powers, amounted to blasphemy, which is prohibited by Muslim law.

The fatwa says ‘’It is shocking that the word ‘evolution’ has been much on the tongues of children.’’

It is not known if the decision will be reviewed anytime soon.
