The Conde Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards has revealed Sydney is the second friendliest city in the world, behind Charleston, South Carolina in the USA.
That’s right – apparently our northern cousin is among the most welcoming and friendly cities in the world?!
To get the results, a total of 128,000 travellers were asked to rank the ‘friendliness’ and welcoming nature of cities they have visited.
While no other Australian cities made the top ten, travellers did comment about the overall nature of Australians. One saying: “Aussies are very friendly. Every time we stopped to stare at our map to get our bearings an Aussie would stop and offer to help us.
“Such friendly people, so much so that after we had met an Australian woman on our flight there, she offered to pick us up at our hotel and spent a whole day showing us her favourite parts of the city.”
“Some of the most beautiful people, great vibe,” said another traveller.
“I would live there if possible.”
