Each year Victoria’s Secret Angels are chosen, given their wings and walk down the runway on what is one of the most highly anticipated fashion shows.

But it’s now been confirmed that this will be no more – at least for this year.

While it’s been rumoured for a while that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show wouldn’t return this year after one of the Aussie models Shanina Shaik made mention of it during an interview, the fashion brand has now confirmed the news themselves, according to Just Jared.

The chief financial officer and executive vice president of L Brands, which owns Victoria’s Secret, has reportedly confirmed the cancellation.

“We will be communicating to customers, but nothing similar in magnitude to the fashion show,” said Stuart Burgdoerfer.

The brand also said that, “given the decline in performance at Victoria’s Secret, we have substantially pulled back on capital investment in that business while we focus on ensuring that our merchandise resonates with customers.”

So in short, it sounds like a money issue. The shows themselves are incredibly expensive with the one back in 2016 costing around $20 million.

This is likely because the Victoria’s Secret shows are always massive productions with some of the biggest names in the modelling world walking the catwalk and some huge artists performing like, like Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes and Taylor Swift.

This comes after Shanina Shaik told The Daily Telegraph back in July that the 2019 runway show had been axed.

“It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an angel. But I’m sure in the future something will happen, which I’m pretty sure about,” Shanina said at the time.
