If you’re an Aussie, or an Aussie-enthusiast from abroad, you’ll know that the Logie Awards is one of the most prestigious events of the year.
It’s a time when TV stars get together and celebrate the wins from the year – and very occasionally, you’ll find that something like what happened yesterday, happens.
During the announcement of the 2016 Gold Logie nominees, both Carrie Bickmore and Waleed Aly from The Project were revealed as in the running for the coveted gong.
Many have spoken about the fact that it could get awkward around the office over the next few months, including Project co-host Peter Helliar – but Carrie Bickmore was having none of that.

Bickmore told the Herald Sun, “I’m still relishing my win from last year, to be perfectly honest, so I’d be happy for Waleed to take out the Gold Logie.
It sounds cheesy, but I already still feel like a winner.
I’m happy to sit in that glow for a little while longer.” “It’s not a competition between us. The nomination was such a surprise.
To me, what happens from here is just a bonus,” Aly said. “This is a new thing for Waleed to be nominated for a Logie, and he comes out of the block, and goes for gold. He’s started at the top,” Bickmore said.
“I’ve walked this path a couple of times, so I’ll hold Waleed’s hand.” So glad they’re being cool about it!
