Cruel Intentions is back! And so is the villainous Kathyrn Merteuil played by Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The new show on NBC will be set more than 15 years after the original movie with Kathyrn trying to take control of Valmont International, and as manipulative as always, according to Deadline.
She is no mere cameo either, she will be one of the main recurring roles alongside 16-year-old Bash Casey, the son of the late Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe) and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon).
Bash discovers the truth about his father in a journal and moves to San Francisco to grapple with his step-aunt Kathryn.
None of the other originals have been confirmed to return, but there is some serious potential for some star-studded cameos!
Sarah confirmed the news on her Instagram, quoting one of Kathryn’s famous lines, “Everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way.”
We’re just too excited for this!
#throwbackthursday (a bit early in Los Angeles) this picture was taken on the eve of production on the original #cruelintentions. Its me #rogerkumble (director) and #nealmoritz (exec producer) and the other is a picture of us now on the eve of production on the new #cruelintentions. That’s right “everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way” #kathrynmerteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv ) on the new #Crueltv
She also posted the sweetest throwback photo of the original cast and the original script!
Little did we know, the first title was Cruel Inventions, not Cruel Intentions.
