just two months after its first episode, the REVAMPED AFL FOOTY SHOW was GIVEN THE AXE BY CHANNEL 9.
The show and its new-look panel, led by Anthony “Lehmo” Lehmann and Neroli Meadows, clearly wasn’t hitting the mark with audiences, with a paltry 53,000 viewers tuning on May 2.
It was ultimately taken off life support without notice just minutes after its final episode.
Sam Newman, who hosted the show from 1994 to 2018, joined Jase & PJ to talk about the infamous axing.
“I’m not happy about it being axed but I understand why it was,” Newman said live on air.
“It was going to be axed the year before.
He added, “The writing was on the wall because they changed the format and got away from what it used to be.”
If the show were to return, would Sam host it?
