English singer/songwriter, Olly Murs, hit the theatre at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre last night for his Never Been Better tour and my was it an entertaining show! The singer is a showman through and through, putting on an energetic performance for fans of all ages. He certainly knows how to pull the crowd in and keep them upbeat and happy.
Olly took to the stage and opened the show with ‘Heart Skips a Beat’. The energy flowed from him and on to the audience, with most in the crowd jumping to their feet to join in and dance. Performing an array of songs, old and new, Olly seemed to be really enjoying himself and loving his first ever performance in Adelaide. The hits on the setlist included the title track from his new album ‘Never Been Better’, ‘Right Place Right time’, ‘Dear Darlin’ and a special duet performance of ‘Up’ featuring opening act Anja Nissen.
Towards the end of the show Olly got a little bit funky performing a medley of ‘Play That Funky Music / Le Freak / Good Times / Oops Upside Your Head / Uptown Funk’, this was so much fun! Closing the show with an encore performance of ‘Troublemaker’ was a perfect end to the evening, making sure everyone left happy.
Olly Murs is an amazing vocalist and dancer and is a truly talented performer. He is charming and charismatic and the ladies seemed quite impressed with his booty shaking skills. All in all, the show was great and an awesome way to spend a Sunday night. Looking forward to the next tour!
Special mention to opening act Anja Nissen, the 2014 winner of The Voice Australia. Anja’s vocal performance was flawless, she has an incredible range and she looked gorgeous, she was a highlight of the night for me. Looking forward to hearing more from her in the future, she is definitely one to watch! Keep an ear out for her new single ‘Triumph’!
