The new look Today Show hasn’t been received too well by viewers as of yet with ratings not looking too good for the breakfast program recently.

And according to new reports, one of the new panelists on the Channel Nine program are already set to be replaced.

New Idea are reporting that sports reporter Tony Jones, who replaced Tim Gilbert following the Today Show shakeup last year, is going to be replaced by none other than AFL star Shane Crawford.

Crawford is currently competing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and is tipped to be crowned the winner of the program. The rumours suggest he will take over the sports reporter role on Nine following his stint in the jungle.

A source told New Idea that Tony Jones, or TJ, was only a “temporary replacement” for sports journalist role.

“That’s why they have Tony Jones in now…He is just keeping Shane’s seat warm,” the source claimed.

“Nine just figured it would be a good opportunity to see how [Shane] went with a wider audience and let their rivals spend all their time making him a household name,” they added.

According to another insider, Shane is the perfect candidate for the Today Show due to his sporting expertise and happy family life.

“Today needs a Melbourne voice and they are desperate for AFL legend and top-notch presenter Shane Crawford,” a source told Woman’s Day.

“He’s happily married, and all round he’s one of the best in the business.”

The only thing currently standing in the way is reportedly the fact that the Brownlow Medal winner and his family are reluctant to make the move from Melbourne to Sydney.

“[Shane] turned down the initial offer so they upped it but he doesn’t want to uproot his family – it would take a lot of money to move him out of Melbourne,” a source has said.

Shane is married to wife Olivia and has four children, seven-year-old twins Harry and Jack, 12-year-old Charlie, and 20-year-old Benjamin.
