A new fine could come into place for Melburnians who trespass onto property to protest.

It comes after a number of incidents involving animal activists who allegedly let themselves into property, especially farms, according to the Herald Sun.

A state parliamentary committee has now recommended a $1000 fine for each protestor to try and stop acts of trespass that can also lead to  mental and physical distress for farmers, as we as threatening important biosecurity procedures.

The Victorian Government, led by Daniel Andrews, now has six months to respond to the idea.
