Beverly Hills 90210 is the reboot that everyone has been SO excited about ever since it was announced, but of course it’s rather bitter sweet now that the show will be missing one very prominent character.

Dylan McKay was the iconic bad boy in the original series played by late actor Luke Perry.

Back in March this year the world was left shocked after Perry passed away, following a devastating stroke.

The news came just a couple of days after it was announced the Beverly Hills would get a reboot by Fox, although it wasn’t originally believed that Perry would appear as a regular in the series due to his Riverdale commitments.

At the time of his death, the news hit the acting community and his former cast members pretty hard, including fellow 90210 star Jason Priestly, who played Brandon Walsh.

And now, with filming of the reboot completed and the series starting to pay out in the US, Jason Priestly has spoken out about just how tough it was to overcome the devastating loss of Luke Perry.

Jason joined Kyle and Jackie O and he explained how close the entire cast had been with Perry.

“Poor old Dylan, that’s terrible news,” Kyle said on air with Jason.

“Was it hard filming without Dylan involved?” Jackie asked in reference to Luke’s character.

“It was, Luke was a very big part of our cast and a very big part of my life personally,” Jason explained.

“We definitely felt his absence.”

A few days after Luke Perry passed away, Jason Priestley also opened up on Instagram with some pictures of the pair together, writing about how incredible Luke was and how much he would be missed.

“My dead friend of 29 years, Luke Perry, was one of those truly special people who really care,” Jason wrote. “That is why I, and so many others, are in so much pain today… If you ad the good fortune to know Luke, or to have ever crossed his path, I know you are sad today as well.”

“Luke was much more than just a friend to me,” he wrote in a second post. “He was also my teammate, my teacher, my sounding board, my compass, my brother… Rest in Peace my brother… ”

At the end of the first episode of the Beverly Hills 90210 reboot, the cast all paid tribute to Luke Perry with a sweet message.

“For our friend, Luke Perry 1966-2019,” read the words on the screen as an old scene featuring Dylan and Brandon played.
