Offspring fans can breathe easy for now with Network Ten denying a report that the popular drama has been cancelled.
The Guardian Australia reported on Friday that Offspring, starring Asher Keddie as Nina Proudman, would not be returning for a sixth season.
But a Network Ten spokeswoman has denied the report. “[Head Of Drama] John Edwards did not say Offspring would not be coming back,” the Network Ten spokeswoman said. “He was asked if it would be returning, and he said to the reporter ‘never say never’.
When star Asher Keddie was asked about the controversial report, Keddie told the 3pm Pickup,”John never said anything of the sort. Nothing has changed – there is still a conversation going on, that’s all I know.”
Ten’s chief programming officer Beverley McGarvey said the network wanted Offspring to return next year. “We are in discussions with the producers and they are, in turn, in discussions with the key creatives and cast,” she said.
