After Telstra’s massive network outage last Tuesday, the company apologised to it’s customers by offering a ‘free-data Sunday’.
IT worker John from Sydney took FULL advantage of this offer, churning through 425GB of data in just 24 hours.
The Rhodes resident created spreadsheets in advance to best prepare for how he would utilise Telstra’s generous offer.
John downloaded 25 seasons of How It’s Made, each season of Game of Thrones and Stargate Atlantis in high definition.
His biggest data user? Syncing his library of stream games to his computer.
John’s usual data plan gives him 6GB a month and he spends an extra $10 for every additional gigabyte he uses.
If Sunday was just a regular day, John’s downloading effort would’ve added a casual $4190 onto his bill.
Telstra’s decision to give it’s customers free data saw the company experience its biggest ever day with users reportedly downloading 1,841 terabytes of data.
