E! News anchor Guiliana Rancic has been the subject of attention lately due to her thin frame – and not all of it has been positive.
The media personality turned heads in January at the Golden Globes when she appeared much slimmer than usual, and since then the internet has been abuzz with inappropriate chatter of eating disorders – and some even worse comments.
“Some people were saying, ‘The cancer is probably back’,” Rancic – who was diagnosed in breast cancer in 2011 – told People.
“And they were accusing me of every eating disorder. I thought to myself, ‘God, if someone really thought I had an eating disorder, what a horrible way to approach it.”
The 40-year-old described the attention as “really hurtful”, and assured the magazine that she’s perfectly healthy, eating a “very robust, healthy and balanced diet and dessert almost every night”, but that the drastic weight loss has been a reaction to her cancer medication.
“I want to look fit and beautiful and sexy, and I can’t,” she said.
“I never want my weight to distract people from what I do… But it is becoming a distraction, [whenever] I wear something sleeveless, show my arms, my back.”
But Rancic is staying positive amidst all the negative press, saying, “I refuse to be broken… I have so many beautiful things in my life.”
