Georgia Love appeared on The Project the other night, talking on camera about her beautiful mother’s passing for the first time since she lost her.
She said ‘bittersweet’ can hardly describe the experience of going public with her new relationship just days before losing her mum.
She said The Bachelorette finale was ‘one of the happiest moments’ but admits she ‘got the worst phone call of her life’ just 24 hours later.
The last episode was filmed in August but Georgia and her partner Lee Elliott had to keep their romance a secret until last month.
But sadly, shortly after the finale was broadcast, Belinda passed away following a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
‘We could finally be in the same room together and tell each other how we feel and relax,’ said the former TV newsreader.
‘And literally 24 hours later I got the worst phone call of my life.’
One of the most beautiful, thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received 💜 One bracelet to support @pancareaus and World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and one to remember my beautiful mum Belinda. Thank you @francescacollections I will treasure both of these dearly 💜 #francescascollections #pancare #pancreaticcancerawarenessmonth
She continued: ‘It’s been incredibly difficult, but would have just been made so much more difficult if Lee had not been there.
‘There are silver linings and my mum absolutely supported me 100 per cent in doing this and in everything I did.
She revealed that one of the most difficult things to deal with was people asking her if she regrets ‘going away for three months’ while her mum was sick.
But she explained: ‘You know, you can look back at any point of your life and go, “Well, I was away for two months travelling there or a year working there”.
‘But if I had not have gone on The Bachelorette I would not have (met) Lee.
But I would have still been in Tassie, I would have been further away from my mum.
‘So, you know, I don’t regret anything that happened.’
