Jamie Brewer is making fashion history as she becomes the first model with Down Syndrome to walk at New York Fashion Week. She will be making her catwalk debut for designer Carrie Hammer, one of the first shows of the busy week.

Jamie who is a spokesperson for people living with the condition, can’t wait to start breaking down more barriers.

She told Today that “Young girls and even young women…[see me] and say “hey, if she can do it so can I”. It’s a true inspiration being a role model for any young women to [encourage them] in being who they are.”

Jamie will be modelling a bespoke dress as part of Carrie’s Role Models Not Runway Models campaign, meaning she uses role models to show off her designs.
