A photo of a father and his two children wading in crocodile infested waters has been slammed online.

The snap taken at Deep Creek off Kewarra Beach in Cairns shows the father with his back turned as his daughter plays in the creek notorious for crocs.

According to the Daily Mail, an angry onlooker took to Facebook to share the photo, revealing the man ignored warnings.

“I absolutely cannot fathom the stupidity of some people,” the photographer wrote in an anonymous post sent to a Facebook group.

“This is at the creek at Kewara beach. Is he keeping an eye on his little girl? No.

“Just after I took this the young boy went even further and got right down in the water. I could not believe what I was watching.”

According to the anonymous bystander, the father was shown evidence of a crocodile slide – a leftover mark from the reptile moving about the sand.

However the father refused to believe locals who had spotted crocodiles in the creek in recent days.

The beach also has signs warning of the reptiles.

Just last week a woman filmed another crocodile in the water at the same beach.

The photo comes a month after photographer, Cindy Waldron, was killed by a crocodile at Thornton Beach in the Daintree just north of Cairns.

A two-year-old boy was also killed earlier this month after being taken by an alligator at a Disney World resort in Florida.
