Melbourne is one of Australia’s most photogenic cities. What? It’s true!
Snap up all this beautiful city has to offer – from the inner-city street art to its coastal havens.
Hunt down these beautiful places in Melbourne, capture the unexpected and be sure to print out the pics (we’re loving instax’s LiPlay!) to continue reliving the good times.
1. St Kilda Pier
Home to Luna Park, St Kilda beach and the Palais Theatre, St Kilda is the perfect backdrop to any photo. However, it’s the St Kilda Pier that takes the cake – walking out into the bay will lead you to the heritage-listed Pavilion building. You might even spot a colony of penguins here!
2. Queen Victoria Market
While Melbourne has its fair share of photogenic cafes and restaurants, there’s nothing like a gorgeous tray full of fresh fruit and veg to make a photo really pop. Voila – Queen Victoria Market ticks all the boxes!
The Deli Hall’s high ceilings and old fittings make it a beautiful place for photos. Not convinced? You can snag a bunch of free tastings while you’re there!
3. Hosier Lane
Have you really been to Melbourne if you haven’t taken photos of Hosier Lane? Exactly! This famous bluestone laneway is known for its innovative street art that has made the Melbourne urban art scene known across the globe.
The artwork in this laneway is always changing so you can keep coming back and being surprised at what you will find next.
4. Brighton Beach boxes
Let’s face it – if you want some pretty pictures of beaches, then Melbourne probably isn’t for you. However, Brighton Beach has something that beats your average ocean pic!
The historic bathing boxes along the edge of the sea are pretty extraordinary. The 82 bathing boxes are structurally the same as they were over 100 years ago, but their colours and designs change all the time to the whims of their licensees.
5. Yarra River
There are countless classic shots just waiting to be taken all along the Yarra River. Nestled in the vintage vaults below Federation Square, Riverland is perfectly placed for great river views and people watching. Further down at South Wharf, Boatbuilders Yard has spectacular Docklands views, particularly at sunset.
Need camera ideas? Look no further than the instax mini LiPlay! C’mon, we can all agree that Melbourne looks best in photo-form, right? It’s time to capture the unexpected.
