Elizabeth Banks has turned to the dark side.
The American actress has signed on to play the villain in Power Rangers, an adaptation of the 1990s television series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film follows the story of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high-school kids given powers to unite and save the world.
Banks will reportedly play Rita Repulsa, the witch-like nemesis and archenemy of the team of teenage superheroes.
The actress will star alongside newcomers RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott, and Dacre Montgomery, the colourful team infused with protective powers.
The film will be directed by Dean Israelite and will hit the big screen next year.
