Ed Sheeran is one singe who is involved in millions of wedding days thanks to the popularity of his love songs during ceremonies and first dances.
But now it seems the ’Perfect’ singer has actually held his own wedding day following reports that he has secretly married his childhood sweetheart Cherry Seaborn.
The top-secret ceremony is said to have been held just before Christmas at his country estate in Suffolk.
But if you’re wondering how all of the couple’s famous friends managed to keep the wedding secret, it turns out they weren’t actually invited! A source close to the couple has said that the hush-hush nuptials were kept quite small.
“Ed got married a few days before Christmas. It was very quiet – just Ed’s oldest school pals, limited family and the priest,” the source said.
“There were only 40 people – so no Taylor Swift, record company executives or any royals or pop star pals. He wanted no fuss, and he wanted it to be something entirely for them – just a tiny, winter wedding.
“It’s amazing that he’s the biggest pop star in the world, but he was just able to quietly slide of and wed,” the source added.
“Neither of them were that fussed about making a big deal about it. Cherry just wanted to get it out of the way without any problems of intrusions.”
The secret wedding for Ed and Cherry doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Ed wore an engagement ring, made by his now wife Cherry out of silver clay, ever since they got engaged in December 2017 so that no one would know when they actually got hitched.
The couple are reportedly going to host a wedding party in the UK Summer to celebrate with all of their extended friends who didn’t know about the actual wedding.
“Ed and Cherry are planning a festival-style party for a wider list to happen at the end of the Summer,” the source said.
“That will be all singing and dancing, and they’ll be able to invite Taylor and their record company colleagues and royal friends.”
Ed announced his engagement to Cherry in an Instagram post in January 2018.
“Got myself a fiancee just before new year,” Ed wrote in the caption. “We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well.”
The pair originally met at school in Framlingham, Suffolk but they didn’t start officially dating until 2015.
Congratulations to the happy couple! We hope they share some adorable pics with us soon!
