Singer Demi Lovato has revealed that at the height of her cocaine addiction, she could not go an hour without succumbing to the drug.
The ‘Cool For The Summer” star battled drug and alcohol abuse as a teenager and in a new interview with Refinery29, she has revealed she would ignore her parents attempts to keep her on the straight and narrow by reminding them she was paying their bills.
Demi said ‘“Prior to getting sober, I was one of those people who was like, I don’t give a f***, whatever and I used that as an excuse to do whatever I wanted. I was a nightmare to work with.”
The 23-year-old has celebrated 4 years of sobriety this year but she says her lifestyle changes have not come easy “I had to learn the hard way that I can’t do parties anymore. Some people can go out and not be triggered, but that’s not the case for me.”
While she feels confident she will never revert back to her addiction, she is aware that people are waiting for her to mess up, saying “I’m still underestimated… I still have more things to prove – not just about the things I can do with my voice. Some people think that because I’m young, I can’t stay sober. But these are things I want to prove to myself.”
She now prides herself on being honest about her past with her loved ones and loyal fans.
Demi is about to start touring around the USA with Nick Jonas.. hopefully they make it down under soon too!
