Shockingly, today 1 in 3 Australian marriages will end in divorce.
It seems everlasting love may soon be a thing of the past.
So the Daily Mirror sat down with Fred and Marjorie Mawby who have been married for 75 years, to find out what the secret is.
The pair have been head-over-heels for each other since their first date (a blind date!) nearly 8- years ago.
They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on the 29th of March.
Their secret? Constant bickering over money.
Fred says the pair’s success is definitely due to arguing about money (both thinks the other spends too much) once a week from the very start of their relationship.
In fact, it is still a point of heated discussion today.

Fred has always thought Marjorie would go shopping too often while he worked as a corporal in the Royal Army Service Corps during World War 2.
However Marjorie believed that she supported Fred and their four daughters by working in a local factory.
“We’ve had our issues with the cost of living when we were bringing up our kids, as we had to make sure there was food on the table” Marjorie said.
The couple believe their weekly arguments are healthy and allows them to clear the air often, which they say is the key to everything.
Fred said “We’re still together after 75 years of marriage and although we’ve had our ups and downs about money and how Marjorie spends it, we’ve sorted through our differences”.
Marjorie agreed saying “It [the marriage] has hit a few rocky patches as we argue about money but we will always sort it out…I wouldn’t have him any other way, really”.
