Only hours after releasing an open casting call for Temptation Island, the series has been pulled by Channel Seven.

The decision comes after the network’s show The Super Switch flopped, with episodes dropping before the remainder of the series was moved to 7Flix.

According to TV Blackbox, shooting for the show was supposed to commence in October for a three week period in Fiji. However, the publication claims that budget is to blame for the show’s cancellation, as well as the dismal reactions to The Super Switch.

In May, Seven released a press release announcing their decision to air a new series of Temptation Island.

“It’s a fascinating exploration of the familiar vs the fantasy relationship. Most of us have an ideal mate in mind and Temptation Island actually allows participants to meet that person and compare it with their present relationship. It then asks the question, will they stay or stray?” Seven’s Director of Network Programming Angus Ross said.

A potential replacement show is set to be announced by Seven on Monday.
