The Hills: New Beginnings stars Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have reportedly split just one year on from their lavish Indonesian wedding ceremony.
US Weekly is reporting that the split was a mutual decision and that the pair were being quite civil.
The publication reports that the couple’s representative Scott Newman released a statement to them about the break up, saying that it was the best decision for them.
“Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate. They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward.”
Following the news of their split, it’s reported that Kaitlynn has moved out of their Malibu home and that they have both been seen without their wedding rings.
It comes after the pair’s relationship was truly put in the spotlight during their time on The Hills reboot. Brody and Kaitlynn were seen fighting in numerous episodes, but despite their fiery relationship, Brody said that he felt the show had brought them closer.
“I think that is made us closer if anything, for sure,” he reportedly said to Us Weekly.
“The first year [of marriage]… I feel like we’ve been married for longer,” Brody said. “We’ve been together almost six years now, so yeah, it wasn’t that big of a change. We lived together for six years, and we still live together. Everything’s been great.”
The most surprising part of the split however, is reports that Brody and Kaitlynn were never legally married in the first place.
The pair tied the knot in June 2018 overseas, but according to a source, they never obtained a marriage license in the US and so they were technically never husband and wife.
Neither Kaitlynn nor Brody have personally commented on the breakup reports and there’s no word on how this would affect season two of The Hills: New Beginnings.
