We all know that ‘that’ time of the month isn’t necessarily a pleasant time for women, but the only thing that’s worse is probably the perception on it.
As if it wasn’t enough to have males ask you if it’s ‘that time of the month’ the second you look even a little bit unsatisfied, or disagreeing – now the ads that advertise our feminine products seem to pushing the stereotype.
Though the video for the new Sofy BeFresh pads is funny – it’s also been seen as a bit of a betrayal to women.
It seems that the video concept has been accused of both fat and period-shaming women. The ads, which appear during breaks throughout The Bachelor have resulted in some social media outrage.
So that #sofybefresh ad is…awful. Why is the bad version of the girl 4 sizes bigger? That’s not bloat. #fatshaming #notfunny #fail

So let’s perpetuate the fat-shaming stereotypes and misconception that all woman are unstable on their periods… #sofybefresh

Now, the star of the ad, Rose Flanagan has spoken out via Twitter, good for you, Rose!
Contrary to public opinion, I actually reckon I’m a massive babe #sofybefresh #periodshaming #fatshaming
