Australian hitmakers Thirsty Merc have been involved in a serious car accident that has allegedly left their Stage Manager dead and drummer in a serious condition.

The band were on route to a concert in regional Victoria yesterday when the accident happened at approximately 2:30pm.

Drummer Mick Skelton was flown to the Alfred Hospital where he is reportedly in intensive care after undergoing surgery.

The driver of a ute that was also involved in the accident is also being treated for injuries.

The band understandably cancelled the gig scheduled for Warrnambool last night.

Lead singer Rai Thistlethwayte, bassist Phil Stack and guitarist Matt Smith are all fine and were understood to be travelling in a different vehicle at the time.

Thirsty Merc are known for hits such as In The Summertime, 20 Good Reasons and Someday Someday.
