SBS have announced they have signed an agreement with the European Broadcasting Union to establish an Asian version of the Eurovision Song Contest.
That means, officially, that the Asia-Pacific region will have their own Eurovision. Dreams are coming true.
The chairman for the Reference Group Of The Eurovision Song Contest Dr. Drank-Dieter Freiling said ”We are excited by the fact that Eurovision’s appeal is crossing continental borders to Asian countries”.
SBS Managing Editor was excited but the decision saying ”We are pleased with the very early discussions across the region and look forward to our neighbours to realise this vision.
The best piece of news is that it will bring 20 countries together for the first time in 2017 and.. it will be hosted in Australia first.
I’ve started prepping my party already.
