You’ll probably remember when Amy Schumer gave birth to her son last year because of his pretty memorable name.
At the time, we kind of assumed that Amy had given her son this name on purpose because it sounded very similar to another word… and well she is a comedian!
But it turns out that Amy’s son’s name, and it’s likeness to the word genital, was a complete accident! So much so that Amy and her hubby have decided to officially change it.
Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast Amy Schumer Presents: 3 Girls, 1 Keith, the actress revealed her son’s new name.
“So you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name is officially changed?” she asked her listeners in the episode. “It’s not Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer but we realised that we by accident named our son, ‘genital’.”
Amy’s guest Claudia O’Doherty replied by saying that her mum was the one that pointed out to her that the name had a likeness to the word genital.
“My mum pointed that out to me actually. My mum was like, ‘Amy’s called her son genital.’ And I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And then she was right,” said Claudia.
Literally, we had the exact same thought process! Gene David has a much better, ugh, ring to it!
Despite the whole name debacle though, Amy has absolutely loved becoming a mother often opens up about her tough journey with IVF but how rewarding this ended up being for her.
“Hey! So IVF went like this for us. They retrieved 35 eggs from me. Not bad for the old glad right?” Amy wrote on Instagram. “Then 26 fertilised! Whoa right? For all those we got 1 normal embryo from that and 2 low level mosaic (mosaic mens there are some abnormal cells but can still lead to a healthy baby) So we feel lucky we got 1! But what a drop off right?”
“I am so grateful for our son and that we have the resources to get help in this way,” she added. “I just wanted to shared and send love and strength to all of the warrior women who go through this process.”
