The Heartbreaking Story Behind Clip Of A Guy Punching A 'Roo

The footage floating around the internet of a man punching a kangaroo in the face has taken many people aback.

The man responsible was trying to save the pet dog’s life, as the ‘roo had him in a headlock.

The man approached the ‘roo, and as he did, the animal used the claws on his foot to make a last ditch attempt to attack the dog, before allowing the dog to be freed and shifting his focus to the man approaching.

The man then punches the kangaroo square in the face, leaving the animal in a state of shock.

The video has had mixed reviews online, with some people believing the man did what he did in self defence, some finding it hilarious, and others claiming it’s blatant cruelty to animals. The footage has been viewed over three million times.

Whatever your stance, it’s important to know the heartbreaking background to the story.

A 21-year-old man named Kailem was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer affecting mainly children and adolescents.

He told his friends he had a dying wish, his wish was for he and friends to go on a hunting trip.

During the trip, the incident with the ‘roo occurred. This morning Sophie and Matty spoke to Kailem’s friend Matt, who organised the trip, who shared details of Kailem’s struggle.

Tragically, Kailem has now passed away, and if you’d like to donate to his family, please do so via his GoFundMe page.
