Yay! Another Big Win For Melburnians!

Congratulations Melbourne! We are the cheapest city to travel in and around! Melbourne is changing things up and combating national trends for the cost of transport.

According to research performed by the Australian Automobile Association's Transport Affordability Index, the cost of getting around town dropped in the September quarter.

Compared to the rest of the country we are benefiting from lower petrol and car insurance costs, as well as our public transport fares not rising.

The average family's annual transport bill has dropped from $18,136.02 to $18,056.11. And while that price drop looks quite small - it's only $80 after all, comparing it to other cities', we are looking pretty good.

Canberra's annual transport figure actually increased by $100!

National transport costs for an average family jumped by $116 a year, remaining one of the biggest expenses for a household.
