Woman’s Pastor Son Believes Husband’s Rape Was HER Fault

Last night, 60 Minutes aired a story about a radical preacher, who’s wife claims raped her up to ‘seven times a day’.

According to Joy Harris, her husband, Pastor Larry Harris would rape her ‘six or seven’ times per day. She reveals the abuse went on for forty years.

The pastor preached that women must submit to each of her husband’s demands, hence her forty year ordeal. 'He thought the more times a day he had it the more of a man he was. it got up to six or seven times a day,' Ms Harris told 60 Minutes.

Her son, Jason, left the church after learning of his father's atrocities. 'We didn't realise it at the time, but she was a sex slave,' he said.

Larry and Joy moved to Australia from the States in 1994 as missionaries on behalf of Valley Forge Baptist Church which has been liked to former members as a ‘cult’.

Pastor Harris and his church exploit a Bible verse to justify their abhorrent and systematic abuse of women. Ephesians 5:24 reads: 'Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.'

Larry later confessed to two of the forty years of rapes, and is currently serving five years in prison. She plans to have him prosecuted in NSW once he's released.

Larry and Joy's other son Kevin, also a Pastor for a radical Independent Baptist Church, has cut all ties from his mother, who he believes has failed to show repentance for the situation.

Yep, he thinks SHE should apologise.

"He thinks I'm just as guilty as a rapist, my rapist. I'm wrong; I'm displeasing God,' Joy said of Kevin.

During the interview last night, Kevin seriously struggled to answer the questions asked of him involving his mother.

You got a sense that the thought of his mother’s constant rape bothered him, but almost that he’d come too far to take it back. He doesn’t even believe the words he’s saying.

When asked about how his extreme views had damaged relationships, Kevin stood up and left the room, angrily questioning producers about the angle of the interview.

Jason Harris is now supporting his mother's ambition to have Pastor Harris arrested in New South Wales following his sentence, the state where she alleges several other rapes took place.

'You can't tell a woman that was raped it was her fault. It's evil, it's evil,' Jason said.
