Woman Randomly Attacked By Arsonist In Melbourne
A Preston woman has been left terrified after her car was destroyed in a random arson attack last month.
Police fear the man could strike again.
Alison Halloway has told the Herald Sun that she had just fallen asleep on October 17 when she heard something outside.
She woke up to flames outside her home near Bell Station and ‘freaked out.’
“I dragged my son out of bed and was shaking so much just calling triple-0 was hard but I managed it somehow,” she said.
The police and fire trucks arrived within minutes and managed to put the fire out completely but the car, parts of her fence and gate were destroyed.
Preston Detective Senior-Constable Meaghan Briggs said the attack was random and they are concerned the arsonist could strike again.
“It was completely random and that does make it terrifying,” Sen-Constable Briggs said.
She said police had CCTV footage of the man they believed responsible.
Police are searching for a man with dark skin, a medium build, short dark hair who appears to be under 20.
She said he used public transport to get to scene, arriving and departing from Bell Station.
