Victorian Police Officer Arrested For Accusation Of Assault
A Victorian police officer has been accused of raping a 16-year-old girl at a park in Mildura.
It is understood the girl has taken out an intervention order out against the officer, preventing him from contacting or approaching her, following allegations of multiple sexual assaults.
A senior constable was arrested on January 25 as part of the Taskforce Salus investigation, and suspended with pay.
It is currently unclear why it has taken more than two months to interview the girl after the complaint, with it not being known if the girl is the only alleged victim, and whether the offences occurred while the officer was on duty.
It has also been six months since the officer was arrested, but the investigation remains ongoing.
A Police spokeswoman said "The victim has been referred to appropriate support agencies,"
"As the investigation is ongoing, it would not be appropriate to make further comment at this time."
